Film fans still have to wait the best part of a year to see if JJ Abrams has scored another Star Trek box office hit, however, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming film, it seems. Not least that one of its stars, a certain Benedict Cumberbatch, is seriously talking up the movie.

“Star Trek was amazing,” the 35-year-old actor told the BBC,  going on to describe the experience as “one of the best four months of my life” which was “just solid extraordinary fun from beginning to end”.

But there was more…

“JJ Abrams is a god,” he said. “And the rest of the cast, and what we were asked to do in the film is just blindingly brilliant. I adore them all. It was a huge roller-coaster adventure and I can’t wait for the world to see the film. I can’t tell you anything about it, even what part I am playing, whatever the speculation…”

Oh, come on Bennie C, we all know you’re playing Khan, right?

“There is all sorts of speculation about all sorts of characters. It would be kind of spoiling it for everyone if I clarified anything. So I am going to leave it with a smile…”

But, back to Sherlock – does he know how his character survived ‘The Reichenbach Fall’?

“No.”

What, you haven’t even been given a hint?

“Maybe… maybe…”

Perhaps we should ask JJ Abrams. After all, “a god” should know, shouldn’t he?
