Beginning in June, around the same time as Wimbledon, Euro 2012 and the Test cricket season, You Cannot be Serious! will feature a round-up of the funniest clips from the week’s televised sport, as well as brand new sketches and impressions from McGowan.

In addition to sports stars, McGowan will also impersonate showbiz figures like Louie Spence, Peter Andre and Jessie J in his sketches and put them into some unique sporting situations.

The 47-year-old impressionist said: “I’ve always had more feedback about my impressions of sport stars than anyone else and it’s been brilliant to be working on a new generation of people we see on TV all the time. This show won’t just be for the sports nuts though and I’m really looking forward to putting some surprising showbiz faces into the middle of it all too.”

TV Burp presenter Harry Hill, who last worked with McGowan on Radio 4 in 1992, will act as executive producer on the show.
