The question everyone will be asking, however, is: how do you solve a problem like Lionel Messi?

Chelsea fans will still be fuming when they remember the controversial second leg at Stamford Bridge three years ago. Referee Tom Henning Ovrebo still receives hate mail after turning down numerous Chelsea penalty appeals, but it was Andres Iniesta’s late away equaliser that eventually sent Guus Hiddink’s side spinning out of the competition.

Mourinho danced around the Camp Nou pitch following his side’s 2-2 away draw with Barcelona. He had already managed a 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, and Didier Drogba’s 90th minute equaliser sent the charismatic Portuguese into raptures.

Barcelona’s 3-2 aggregate win against Chelsea was a crucial step on their path to beating Arsenal in the Champions League final that year. Asier Del Horno’s tackle on the teenage Lionel Messi earned him a sending off in the first leg, and a second leg draw at Stamford Bridge wasn’t enough for the home side.

Chelsea fans will be hoping their team can replicate their second leg performance from this year when they managed to win 4-2 at home, meaning they knocked Barcelona out 5-4 on aggregate.
