Total Recall reboot launches viral website

"Rekall homepage" promises visitors a phone call from one of the company's "representatives" in the future

A new viral website for Len Wiseman’s remake of Total Recall has been launched, which masquerades as the homepage for Rekall, the company responsible for providing people with artificial memories of fantastic holidays in the film.

With a slogan reading “escape from your world to ours” and text urging users to “come to Rekall for the memory of a lifetime”, the website encourages American visitors to leave their phone numbers so that a “Rekall representative” can get in touch at a later date and explain more about the company’s “experience packages”.

Inputting a number produces the message: “Thank you for entering your phone number. A representative will call you when your vacation package is available. Rekall, we can remember it for you.” Sadly, it does not currently work for UK numbers.

Starring Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale, Total Recall is expected to reach UK cinemas on Wednesday 22 August.

The original Total Recall, based on Philip K Dick’s short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and was made by Paul Verhoeven in 1990.
