Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is to become a feature film director at the helm of an upcoming project starring Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis.
You Are Here will see Wilson play a bachelor weatherman who takes a road trip with his bi-polar childhood friend, Ben (played by Galifianakis), after Ben’s father passes away and leaves him a fortune.
Along the way the friends run into Ben’s sister, who has yet to be cast, though Parks and Recreation’s Amy Poehler is rumoured to be in talks to play the role.
Weiner, who has directed several episodes of Mad Men, plans to direct You Are Here between seasons of the 1960s-set TV drama. Production on the movie will begin in North Carolina this May.
“This movie has been my passion for eight years and to see it come together with Owen and Zach and Amy is a dream come true,” said Weiner in a statement.
“I can’t wait to get started because the movie is about everything I care about and I’m tired of reading it out loud to my friends.”
