Missing The Only Way Is Essex now it’s off air? Can’t wait for another series of fake-tanned silliness? Well never fear, Fresh Out of Essex (FOOE) is here.
From now on, while the main ITV2 programme is away, mini web episodes will keep fans up to date with what’s happening with Joey Essex, Mario, Sam, Billie and company twice a week.
FOOE will offer short webisodes (under five minutes) every Monday and Wednesday all year round, apart from when TOWIE is screening on ITV2.
An ITV spokesperson told RadioTimes.com the series will be “very separate from the show” and will not feature all of the characters in each episode. In many instances, the FOOE episodes will focus on just a few people in one or two scenes.
In addition, when the main show returns, there will be a recap allowing television viewers to see what’s been going on if they haven’t been following online.
The first FOOE episode was released on Monday. This and all subsequent webisodes can be viewed on the official TOWIE website.
The Only Way Is Essex began on ITV2 in October 2010 and recently completed its fourth series. Despite viewing figures beginning to fall after several of the original characters, including Mark Wright and Amy Childs, left the show last year, the programme remains one of the most watched on ITV2. It also has a large online and on-demand following and is a regular trending topic on Twitter when it airs.
In 2011, TOWIE fought off competition from Big Fat Gypsy Weddings, Downton Abbey, Miranda, Sherlock and The Killing to win the YouTube Audience Award at the British Academy Television Awards.
