Keanu Reeves has revealed that the first script for the upcoming third Bill & Ted movie has been written.
“Yeah, we have a script. We’re trying to put it together. It’s a good script too,” the Matrix star, who played time-travelling slacker ‘Ted’ Theodore Logan in the franchise’s first two films, told The Independent.
His co-star Alex Winter, who portrayed Bill S Preston in both Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey, corroborated Reeves’s claims on Twitter, saying: “Script done? Check. -We love it? Check. -Green light? Working on it!”
Reeves has previously hinted that the third film’s plot could involve the rock-loving duo attempting to save the world with music.
In an interview with MTV last April, he said: “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened.
“So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure came out in 1989 and launched Keanu Reeves’s acting career. The film spawned one big-screen sequel, 1991’s Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, two cartoon series and a live-action TV show starring a different cast.
