The Artist and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy feature among this year's leading contenders

The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius’s re-creation of Hollywood’s silent movie era, leads the nominations for this year’s British Academy Film Awards with 12 nods, while espionage thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy features in 11 categories. The prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at London’s Royal Opera House on Sunday 12 February.
