MasterChef return cooks up 4.75 million viewers for BBC1

John Torode and Gregg Wallace bring home the bacon with good ratings for the Beeb

MasterChef returned to BBC1 last night with an average audience of 4.75 million viewers, a 19.7 per cent share of all those watching television between 9pm and 10pm. 


The cookery show, presented by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, easily outrated The Biggest Loser on ITV1, which could only manage 2.16 million viewers (a 9 per cent share) in the same time slot.  A further 190,000 people tuned in an hour later to see the pounds drop off on ITV1+1.

Elsewhere in the 9pm hour, BBC2 attracted 2.53m (10.4 per cent share) for Stargazing Live: Back to Earth and Horizon at 9:30pm informed 1.62 million, a 7.2 per cent share of viewers.  


On Channel 4, 15 Kids and Counting drew 2.89 million viewers (12 per cent) from 9pm and Body of Proof delivered 1.44 million (6 per cent audience share) to Channel 5.
