The fortunes of axed BBC2 series Something for the Weekend could be looking up, with ITV reportedly in the early stages of talks to bring it back, featuring a repackaged version of the presenting team.
The Sunday-morning magazine, fronted by Tim Lovejoy (pictured), chef Simon Rimmer and Louise Redknapp, is the latest casualty of the BBC’s Delivering Quality First cost-cutting initiative. But solid ratings and an outcry from viewers – including over 22,000 Facebook fans – suggest it could find a home elsewhere.
ITV are said to be in discussions with Princess Productions, the company who make the programme, but are thought likely to change its name.
Described by fans as ideal “hangover TV”, Something for the Weekend blends celebrity guests with cookery, gadget reviews, archive programmes and a regular segment on cocktails.
