Titanic is a new retelling of the famous doomed voyage, which is set to be screened during 2012 to commemorate the centenary of the disaster, and the trailer introduces viewers to some of the characters involved.

The series will feature more than 89 actors, including Linus Roache, Celia Imrie, Toby Jones, Geraldine Somerville, Sophie Winkleman and Timothy West, and will differ from James Cameron’s hit 1997 film about the disaster by shifting the focus away from two central characters to explore the untold stories of the hundreds of other people on board the ship.

Rufus Radcliffe, director of group marketing and research at ITV1, said of the series: “Titanic promises to be a massive TV event in 2012.”
