Actors Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson give Hollywood studios the best return on their investments, according to the calculations of Forbes magazine.
Stewart, who plays Bella in the popular teen vampire saga Twilight, is top of the tree. For every £1 she receives in wages, her films from the last three years have made £55.83.
Second best investment prospect is Anne Hathaway – returning £45.67 per £1 investment – who has Tim Burton’s $1 billion box office smash Alice in Wonderland to thank for her ranking.
Stewart’s Twilight co-star – and off-screen boyfriend – Robert Pattinson is rated the third biggest Hollywood banker, paying out £39.43 for every £1 spent on his wages. He drops below Stewart due to the relatively modest performances of his other movie vehicles, such as period drama Water for Elephants.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and Transformers’ Shia LaBeouf complete the top five, handicapped by having starred in more expensive franchises.
Forbes compiled the list by adding together the money each actor was paid, up front and afterwards, for each of their last three non-animated films. They then divided the total production costs of the movies by the actors’ wages to come up with the final figures.
So if you’ve ever wondered how the big Hollywood stars command such huge wages, there’s your answer. After all, in the current financial climate, where else could you get a 50 per cent return on an investment over a three-year period?
