Channel 5+1 to launch in December

Richard Desmond's timeshift service will initially be available to Freeview, Freesat and Sky viewers

What’s one better than Channel 5 – Channel 6?  No, Channel 5+1 of course, which rather confusingly is an equation that results in Channel 6, but isn’t.

Anyway, fans of Big Brother, The Gadget Show and CSI need never miss an episode of their favourite programmes again from December because Richard Desmond’s Channel 5 is launching a timeshift channel.

Channel 5+1 will launch on Freeview, Freesat and Sky in early December.  It is understood it should be available to Virgin Media viewers at some point during 2012.

The new channel will join existing Channel 5 spin-off stations 5* and 5USA on the EPG.

Channel 4+1 launched in August 2008 and ITV+1 began this January.  At present the BBC does not have any +1 television channels.
