Harry Hill launches rival to The X Factor 2011

The comedian is offering a contract, £5,000 in musical equipment and £20 of his own money

Simon Cowell will almost certainly be panicking at the news that Harry Hill is to launch a rival to The X Factor… on the internet, with a much smaller prize, and very little razzamatazz.

Harry’s Music offers solo artists and bands the chance to win a record deal, be “manged” by the comedian, have a video made and receive £5,000 in musical equipment – he’s even investing £20 of his own money! OK, it’s not quite up to the sort of package Syco put together for Leona Lewis – but with The X Factor’s ratings on the slide, who knows what the 2013 champ might walk away with?

Harry said: “I want to see what Britain has in the way of bands and new
artists. I’m giving away a record deal with £20 invested.

“I’ll be choosing Harry’s Protege and guiding them as they take a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be put firmly in the spotlight.”

The You’ve Been Framed and TV Burp presenter wants hopefuls to send a one-minute video of their music to his website. Harry himself will choose the winner and almost certainly launch the biggest new act of 2012…

“It’s going to be fun, and maybe even slightly emotional,” added Hill.
