Michael McIntyre leaves Britain’s Got Talent

Reports emerge that the comic will not return to the series in 2012

After just one stint on the panel, comedian Michael McIntyre has decided to quit his role on the ITV1 series.

The Sun has revealed that McIntyre yesterday told bosses at the broadcaster that he is planning a 100-date tour next year and wants to concentrate on preparations for that. “I absolutely loved being a judge but have been itching to get back on stage myself,” the 35-year-old is reported to have commented.

“We wish him all the best and look forward to working with him again,” an ITV spokesman said.

There has been recent talk that fellow judge David Hasselhoff’s position was also in the balance, although Simon Cowell later stated that he has yet to reach a conclusion regarding next year’s Britain’s Got Talent line-up.

The Daily Mirror recently tipped David Walliams as a strong contender to replace any departing judge, but do you feel he’s suited to the format? Or could this be the perfect opportunity for Cheryl Cole? Comment and let us know.
