Miranda Hart to stand in for Chris Evans

The slapstick comedian looks forward to fronting the Radio 2 breakfast show with Jon Holmes

Award-winning comedian Miranda Hart is guest host for Chris Evans on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.

She will take the chair for the week starting 3 October, while Chris is away.

Hart will be joined at the mic by comedy writer and broadcaster Jon Holmes, whose credits include the Bafta-winning Horrible Histories,  Dead Ringers and The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson.

The duo have previously teamed up to host one-off bank holiday specials for Radio 2.

Miranda Hart, whose bumbling, accident-prone TV comedy creation – based partly on herself – has made her a much-loved household name, said:

“There aren’t many people I am happy to spend the breakfast hours with, but I can’t think of anyone nicer than the Radio 2 massive and my colleague Jon Holmes and his ridiculous bed head.”

Jon Holmes returned the compliment, saying, “I’m looking forward to waking up between Miranda on one side and the entire nation on the other.”

“That promises to be quite some party the night before,” he added.

Alongside her TV and radio commitments, Hart is also working on an advice book for teenagers, based on her own experiences of growing up with chronic shyness, called Is It Just Me?

The third series of Miranda will be moving from BBC1 to BBC2 when it broadcasts next year.

Richard Madeley will also be standing in for Chris Evans as a guest host later this month.
