Scarlett Johansson’s lawyer has entered the fray following the appearance of nude photos of the star on the internet yesterday.
“The highly personal and private photographs at issue capture our client self-posing in her own home in a state of undress and/or topless,” said Marty Singer in a letter to a number of websites found displaying the images.
The lawyer demanded the removal of the photos of Johansson, warning the sites: “If you fail to comply, you will be acting at your own peril. Please govern yourselves accordingly.”
The photos in question are candid snaps taken by Johansson, and include one in which she is reflected in a mirror, nude from behind, and another of her reclining topless on a bed.
Johansson – who stars in superhero movie The Avengers, due for release next year – is the latest in a line of high-profile actresses, including Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis and Vanessa Hudgens, who have been the victim of leaked private nude photos.
Some reports suggest the FBI have become involved in an investigation into instances of phone hacking related to the leaks.
