World Athletics: one to watch – Holly Bleasdale

British athletes at the IAAF World Championships: pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale, Saturday 27 August

The first full day of live action sees the women’s pole vault (1.30am – technically Sunday morning) featuring Britain’s Holly Bleasdale in her first major championships.

In July, the Blackburn athlete (19) took a giant leap forward, setting a new British record of 4.7m — a world best for a teenager. It also put her third best in the world at the time. When she won the national trials in August, Bleasdale promised there’s more to come this season.
