New Doctor Who trailer released

Teaser film offers clues about series six finale

“My time is running out…”

Nazis, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, the Silence, something that looks like the monster from Predator running up and down a hotel corridor: the Doctor’s enemies are gathering in the new trailer for the second half of the 2011 series, coming to BBC1 later this year.

The new clip also includes a revisit of the lakeside death scene featured in episode one; River Song (Alex Kingston) wearing the sinister eye patch normally sported by Madame Kovarian (Frances Barber); and the return of James Corden as Craig Owens. Corden was first seen in the 2010 episode The Lodger, which is repeated on BBC3 this evening at 7pm.

At one point in the trailer, Rory (Arthur Darvill) can be seen punching Hitler in the face: presumably a moment from the next Who episode, Let’s Kill Hitler.

Meanwhile, episode 11, The God Complex – by Toby Whithouse, writer of Being Human and previous Who episodes School Reunion and The Vampires of Venice – has its own teaser. There’s that monster in the hotel again:

The new trails were unveiled in San Diego at Comic-Con, America’s biggest TV, film and pop-culture convention.
