Rapper Snoop Dogg wants to launch an X Factor style show aimed at seeking out new hip-hop talent.
At a press conference, surrounded by bikini-clad associates, Dogg told journalists that The X Factor and American Idol were “great shows” and shared his vision of a hip-hop take on the format, “straight directed to the hood… at people with no money, just talent”.
He said “I’m looking for a deal from a network to find America’s hottest hood artists.”
Last month, the rapper revealed he had been approached by Simon Cowell and offered a place on the judging panel of The X Factor USA but had turned it down, saying ” I wouldn’t mind going on the show as a mentor, but not as far as a judge”.
And Snoop had an interesting take on our very own X Factor USA judge, Cheryl Cole, calling her “a little bit hardcore, a bit edgy.”
Coming from a former member of street gang The Long Beach Rollin’ 20s Crips, that’s quite an assessment. Perhaps he hasn’t yet seen her adverts for L’Oreal hair products.
