Channel 5 launches Big Brother auditions

New channel, new presenter and new selection process for revived godfather of reality TV

Channel 5 is beginning the search for its first batch of Big Brother housemates with a cheap and easy online application form.

Those hoping to make it into the historic opening series of the newly resurrected show can head over to and try their luck.

Along with their applications, candidates will be judged on their social networking profiles, so it’s time for interested parties to start micro-blogging on those important global affairs (one wonders, for example, what observations Bubble might make – in 140 characters or less – about the West’s relationship with Pakistan following the death of Osama Bin Laden).

Technophobes should not despair, though – the more traditional BB wannabe can share his or her fabulous personality and special talents at the upcoming public auditions (dates and locations to be announced).

Meanwhile, rumours abound regarding the identity of Davina McCall’s replacement, with Emma Willis’s impressive CV – boasting stints on the I’m a Celebrity… extras show, Live from Studio Five and Big Brother’s Little Brother – ensuring she is among the favourites to front the new series.
