Even fans of The Hangover trilogy have conceded its diminishing returns, despite the films grossing $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office. But the original, in which three early-middle-aged friends wake up after a fourth’s bachelor party in Vegas with no idea what happened, retains the sense of mounting alarm and bears re-watching. Swaggering Bradley Cooper, nerdy Ed Helms and slob Zach Galifianakis make a winning trio, as strippers, rohypnol, a tiger, Mike Tyson, Chinese gangsters and a quickie wedding add to the party’s sore-headed woes. You can see why men vicariously loved it. I just wish I was able to forget The Hangover Part III.
