In this misfiring comedy, five pals go to extraordinary lengths to continue the playground game of the title more than 30 years after they left school. When the most invincible and elusive of their number (Jeremy Renner) announces wedding plans, the others hatch a succession of outlandish plots to finally triumph and make him "it". Although based on a true story with an underlying message about the value of friendship, director Jeff Tomsic ramps up the slapstick to irritating levels and at one point lapses into severely questionable taste likely to offend some viewers. While a similar premise worked well for a handful of sketches in the British TV show Big Train, it struggles to sustain interest over an entire feature. The constant adolescent mugging of Ed Helms and Jon Hamm grates throughout, although the film is partially salvaged by a deadpan Hannibal Buress and Isla Fisher as Helms's maniacal cheerleading wife.
