Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Although this is not as engaging, amusing or as insightful as the somewhat similar Unzipped, this documentary by German director Wim Wenders nonetheless provides an astute look at the work and creative process of innovative Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. We see him contemplating the relationship between cities, identity and the future of cinema in the digital age. The film culminates in a Paris spring catwalk show at the Louvre and the way in which Wenders draws comparisons between his own work and Yamamoto's high-chic designs is a fascinating exercise. An English language version was also released.
