Like the other later entries in the series, this sequel's only connection with the other Bloodfist films is that it stars Don Wilson. This time around the martial arts expert is stuck in a maximum-security prison, harassed by black and white prison gangs because of both his Asian heritage and his refusal to join any one side. The expected fight scenes are short but violent and realistic and, strange as it may seem, they are almost an afterthought. Instead the script focuses on racism - the prevalent message is that real power and harmony come from people putting aside their differences and working together. Multi-dimensional characters, including Richard Roundtree (excellent as a prison "lawyer"), further raise it above the prison exploitation norm.
