In an impressive re-creation of silent-era Hollywood, James Coco plays a fading film funnyman whose hopes are pinned on a comeback movie hit. Raquel Welch plays the girlfriend who hosts a wild party for Tinseltown's moviebiz movers and shakers to promote it. It's a grim film that's based on the story of Fatty Arbuckle, the silent-era superstar whose fan following vanished like mist when he was charged with killing a girl during a sex romp gone wrong. Welch is actually very good and it's directed by James Ivory with scarcely a cucumber sarnie to be seen.
