Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

John Sturges's 1963 film, a box-office smash, can legitimately claim to be the greatest PoW movie of all time. Paul Wendkos's 1988 effort most certainly isn't. It's a remake of sorts which tacks on an extra hour or so in order to trace the surviving prisoners of war, as well as their German guards. Christopher Reeve plays a British officer, while the only cast member from the original film, Donald Pleasence, has inexplicably changed sides to become a Nazi soldier.
