French director Jean Rollin is another eccentric personality to be lionised by exploitation genre fans. His banal poverty row output from the early 1970s is now considered chic thanks to its up-front sexual content and hallucinatory visuals streaked with eerie sadism. This honeymooners-meet-hippy vampires saga verges on boredom, but nonetheless ranks as one of his better efforts from the period, occasionally throwing up the odd surreal image and sensually macabre moment of delirium. Very much an acquired taste.
