Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Based on a story by George Ewart Evans, this featurette might have kept kids amused in the late 1950s. However, the demands of young audiences have changed dramatically since those more innocent times, and a tale of smuggling devoid of special effects will now have few takers. That said, their parents will be fascinated to see a youthful Francesca Annis among the gang assisting a grumpy customs officer in the recovery of some valuable contraband. Darrell Catling directs with undue fuss, but the adventure is so mundane that neither the Famous Five nor the Secret Seven would have bothered turning up.
