A homicidal twelve-year-old paperboy becomes obsessed with a woman and her daughter next-door, and he'll do anything to make his fantasy of the "perfect family" come alive.
The infrequently used but unoriginal killer child plotline is given a boost here, in part because of competent acting and fleshed-out characters. Newly arrived single mother Alexandra Paul makes friends with the neighbourhood's lonely paperboy (Marc Marut), but soon discovers a dangerous side to him, especially when suitor William Katt enters her life. The movie manages the difficult task of plausibly explaining Marut's dementia, even making him somewhat sympathetic, though it's unable to tidy things up completely at the end.
