Comedy starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Ollie, with Stan in tow, joins the French Foreign Legion to try to forget about a failed romance in Paris.
Notwithstanding a script co-written by silent star Harry Langdon and direction by comedy specialist A Edward Sutherland, this is one of the weaker Laurel and Hardy pictures. Mostly pilfered from the four-reeler Beau Hunks and the feature Bonnie Scotland, the comic material is simply spread too thinly for the film's length and time hangs heavily between the Paris opening, the pair's jaunty dance on arrival at the Foreign Legion fort and the careering plane finale. The boys make the best of what is available and there is always James Finlayson squinting and double-taking for all he's worth, but the disappointment for fans is painful.
