Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

The most dramatic event in Rabbit Hole has already occurred before the story begins. The Corbetts were a happily married couple with a young son, but their domestic idyll was shattered when the boy was killed in an accident. Becca (Nicole Kidman) and Howie (Aaron Eckhart) attend a therapy group, but find it increasingly difficult to communicate with each other, let alone come to terms with their loss. Both of them embark on clandestine relationships with others, looking for the understanding they cannot find at home. What follows is darkly ironic, and yet in context it seems perfectly natural and is even amusing in places. The performances from Kidman and Eckhart are beautifully judged, while the film is as delicate and as finely nuanced as the characters and relationships it portrays.
