One of the all-time great movie titles is, surprise, surprise, also one of cinema's great howlers. Preparing for another busy Christmas our Santa (a suitably festive John Call) is kidnapped by Martians who want to exploit Santa's happiness in order to lift the spirits of their planet's listless, automated youth. If that's not enough, there's also a theme song, Hooray for Santa Claus, to coincide with the festivities. Unsurprisingly the two writers responsible for this abomination were never let near a typewriter again. Directed on schmaltz overload by Nicholas Webster and further enhanced by amateurish production values and acting, it has garnered unworthy cult status among bad-movie lovers over the years and, amazingly, was remade in 2000.
