Union detective Allan Pinkerton falls in love with an aristocrat caught spying for the Confederacy.
Union detective Allan Pinkerton falls in love with an aristocrat caught spying for the Confederacy.
A lightweight but passably enjoyable romp based on the true story of the founder of the famous Pinkerton detective agency. Christopher Reeve is the Scottish-born Allan Pinkerton who, during the American Civil War, finds himself wooing southern belles and foiling dastardly Confederate plots. British director Jack Gold marshals the action competently enough and there is a pleasing support cast which includes Madolyn Smith Osborne, Carrie Snodgress and Kevin McCarthy.
