Mystery starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson accompany a valuable diamond on the London to Edinburgh express and quickly discover there is a killer on the train.
Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Dr Watson (Nigel Bruce) are hired to safeguard a gem called the Star of Rhodesia in this short but neat mystery. The plot moves fast enough to skim over the various potholes, with three murders taking place before the air-gun killer is finally revealed. Alan Mowbray co-stars as Major Bleek and years before he had appeared in the Clive Brook and Reginald Owen movies about Holmes. He wrote that Rathbone's version of the sleuth was "the best". Well, we all knew that, didn't we?
