Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

It was all change for the last of the Paul Temple pictures produced by B-hive Butcher's Film Service. Dinah Sheridan was replaced as Steve by Patricia Dainton, while Peter Gawthorne became the new Sir Graham and Dan Jackson appeared as an alternative Burmese houseboy. Only John Bentley remained for this mystery (aka Paul Temple Returns) spun-off by Francis Durbridge from his own radio play Paul Temple Intervenes. However, Bentley is spiritedly supported by an ensemble that includes Christopher Lee, whose menacing archaeologist holds the key to a string of murders. Once again, Maclean Rogers and cinematographer Geoffrey Faithfull make evocative use of their locations, but the plot is short on twists and suspects, and few will be surprised when the perpetrator is unmasked.
