Drama starring Anthony Steel and Peter Finch. A young woman on a ship bound for England from South America becomes an object of desire for the tyrannical captain.
Thirty men and one woman sail from South America to London in 1931. Tensions run high among the superstitious crew because of the presence of a woman passenger, played by sultry Diane Cilento. Captain Peter Finch turns to the bottle when she rebuffs him; first mate Anthony Steel saves her from the captain but fancies his chances and, below decks, Bryan Forbes, Gordon Jackson and others draw hard on their cigarettes. Then the weather turns nasty... Never more than a B-movie, this recycles old material with a modicum of style. A case of yo-ho-hum.
