Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Jack Palance and Anthony Perkins, as estranged father and son, tried to out-smoulder each other in this taut, offbeat, psychological western, one of the more interesting films directed by studio hack Henry Levin. Perkins, who blames his long-absent father for the death of his mother, reluctantly links up with ex-bandit Palance. It turns out that Perkins isn't the only one who has a few old scores to settle with him. It's fascinating to see Perkins in this pre-Psycho mother-obsessed role. The supporting cast of heavies includes Neville Brand, Lee Van Cleef and Elisha Cook Jr.
