Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Although the British title sounds as if this should be a "silly ass" comedy with Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn, the American alternative, Hideout in the Alps, leaves you in no doubt as to what's really on offer. Adapted from the play by Neil Grant, this is far from the best film made by the recently rediscovered director Bernard Vorhaus. However, detective Anthony Bushell's pursuit of criminal peer Ronald Squire is not without its moments of tension and droll humour. Jane Baxter provides the glamour, but the real interest lies in the supporting performances of Felix Aylmer, Margaret Rutherford and Katie Johnson.
