Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

An immensely popular Betty Grable musical, in which she's teamed with the likeable and talented Dan Dailey as 20th Century-Fox tells the story of the early days of vaudeville in garish Technicolor. Neither clever nor sophisticated, this effortlessly whiles away the time. It also has the benefit of a superb Oscar-winning Alfred Newman/Charles Henderson score, and contains a rare opportunity to see the great ventriloquist Senor Wences on celluloid. The story itself, however, which is held together by off-screen narration from Anne Baxter, rambles rather and lacks any real climax.
