Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

J Lee Thompson's effective ticking-timebomb movie sees Gregory Peck playing a western spy sent on an assignment in Red China to track down a miraculous crop-growing formula. However, a microchip has been implanted in the agent's skull that works as either a transmitter or a bomb detonator, depending upon the success of the mission. Laboured dashes of political sermonising aside, the Mission: Impossible-style story is laced with plenty of suspense and outrageous twists, all the way up to the gripping climax.
