Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

The gleefully grisly mix of tongue-in-cheek humour, self-referential in-jokes and comic-strip slaughter continues in the seventh trip to the Child's Play store. Confined to an asylum for the past four years following the events of Curse of Chucky, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) has been persuaded that she, not Chucky (once again voiced by Brad Dourif), murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" into his patients' sessions - an all-too-familiar Good Guy Doll - another string of gruesome deaths occurs, and Nica realises she may not be so crazy after all. Offering a nightmarish trip into distorted reality, the third in the series to be directed by creator Don Mancini amps up the fun by bringing back Chucky's now grown-up original nemesis Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) and his bride Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly on top diva form), making it a worthy addition to the franchise.
