Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Charlie Chan goes to Brazil for Sidney Toler's tenth outing in this long-running B-movie franchise. Director Harry Lachman exploits his exotic location to provide a lively musical background to this tale of double murder. Yet, in spite of featuring some of the series' most ingenious clues and, most unusually, a brief burst of Mandarin (complete with subtitles), this is one of the least satisfying Chan mysteries, with a romantic subplot getting in the way of Toler's intriguing relationship with local cop Harold Huber.
