Summary

Eitan is yesterday's football star waiting for a tomorrow. He is a man who has nothing left but guts consulting the prospects of having to find a new profession and having to face a loving woman who doesn't understand his problems.

Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

Richard Harris made a disastrous directorial debut with this curious blend of soccer and sentiment. Whereas he once made a fearsome rugby league player (in This Sporting Life), at 39 he looked less imposingly athletic as the Israeli footballer who, though well past his sell-by date, goes a game too far because he's been offered a car to fix the result. There are a couple of blazing rows with sculptress girlfriend Romy Schneider, but they fail to distract from the poorly staged soccer sequences and the achingly dull vistas that accompany ten-year-old Yossi Yadin on his trek to Jaffa to see his hero's farewell.
