Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Japan may be the acknowledged world leader in sci-fi anime, but that doesn't seem to have stopped South Korea from trying to jump onto the dystopian bandwagon with this visually arresting slice of future noir. The hi-tech blend of traditional and 3D CGI animation is certainly distinctive, but the same can't be said for its eco-friendly storyline. Jay is the flame-haired heroine, a young trooper battling a band of revolutionaries led by her childhood friend Shua. But her loyalty is put to the test when she discovers they are sabotaging the city of Ecoban because it is polluting the Earth. This may have pristine visuals, but it feels like a plodding, cheap facsimile of other - better - animated movies.
