Review

A star rating of 5 out of 5.

Perhaps the best-loved of all the Laurel and Hardy shorts (albeit a longish one, at just under 30 minutes), it won the pair an Oscar and rightly so. In this classic outing they must deliver a piano to an address at the top of a vast flight of steps, and the duo certainly deliver the comedy, with assorted variations on the theme of the instrument jangling down the stairs in its box, and some fine slapstick involving an ornamental pond. Even when they finally get it inside Professor von Schwarzenhoffen's (Billy Gilbert) house, the trouble isn't over. The result is a definitive (and partly improvised) display.
