Newlyweds Dennis and Carmelita have several obstacles to deal with in their new marriage: Carmelita's fiery Latin temper, a meddling aunt and a conniving ex-fiancee who's determined to break up their marriage.
The spitfire of the title is Lupe Velez, married to Donald Woods's advertising executive and fighting off efforts by his disapproving aunt (Elisabeth Risdon) and jealous ex-fiancée (Linda Hayes) to break them up. Based on characters introduced in The Girl from Mexico, this cleverly orchestrated, lowbrow farce has Leon Errol as both a benevolent uncle and a visiting English whisky baron called Lord Epping. The pie-throwing finale recalls Mack Sennett in his prime, while the picture, a big earner considering its low budget, spawned a series.
