Goodbye New York

A year before she starred in the hysterically funny Lost in America with Albert Brooks, Julie Hagerty made this pale precursor (which could have been subtitled Lost in Israel). After oversleeping on a Paris flight, Hagerty finds herself stranded in Israel. Instead of getting the first plane back like any normal person, she ends up living on a kibbutz and falling in love with soldier Amos Kollek (who also directs). Hagerty, whose brand of kooky comedy could brighten up the dullest movie, is funny to watch, but you can't help wishing she had the material to match her talents.
