Black comedy starring Robby Benson. San Francisco cab driver Pinsky is accused of the murder of a top nuclear scientist, and soon discovers that he is carrying the deceased's pet (who knows his master's crucial formula), and that the police and two Soviet spies are hot on his tail.
Former teen star Robby Benson was perhaps overstretched in this crass chase caper, in which he stars, co-wrote the screenplay and composed the simply atrocious songs. It's hard to know which aspect of his contribution to denounce first, but special mention must go to the inane plot, in which a San Francisco cabbie finds himself hiding a dead scientist's pet monkey from Russian spies to prevent them learning the formula for a plutonium bomb. The quality cast, which includes Elsa Lanchester, Bud Cort and Charles Durning, can't drag the movie up from the mire.
