This horse-racing comedy is not a particularly distinguished Norman Wisdom movie, but a pleasant enough time-waster nonetheless. On its original release, Rank realised the film's weaknesses and shored it up with a rock 'n' roll supporting feature. Today it's a brave viewer (or a devout fan of Wisdom) who'll watch, for the star's mawkish side is virtually given free rein as he tries to win enough money to buy a gift for Rank starlet Jill Dixon. If you can't stand Wisdom, there are British comedy stalwarts, including Margaret Rutherford, Leslie Phillips and Joan Sims, in supporting roles, and 1950s nostalgia freaks will enjoy spotting Sabrina - you can't miss her!
